The Weinstein Co. has snapped up Martin Sweeney’s spec script “Muskrat Love,” with Andy Fickman (“She’s the Man”) eyeing to direct.
Irreverent comedy is being produced by Launchpad Prods.’ David Higgins (“Hard Candy”), Patricia Jones and Underground Entertainment’s Trevor Engelson and Nick Osborne.
Storyline revolves around a self-absorbed player who dumps the perfect woman, only to be injected with a monogamy serum by the woman’s vengeful best friend.
” ‘Muskrat Love’ is a hilarious script that deals with male-female relationships from an original perspective that we think will be appealing to both men and women,” TWC co-prexy of production Michael Cole said.
TWC senior VP production Carla Gardini brought in the project.
Underground Films recently inked a first-look deal with TWC. First project set up under the deal was “Rising Son,” also penned by Sweeney.
Underground Films has several projects set up around town, including “License to Wed” at Warner Bros. Other projects include “Class Act” at DreamWorks and “All About Steve” at Fox 2000.
