Warner Bros. has preemptively acquired film rights to Brit author Philip Reeve’s fantasy-adventure “Larklight,” setting it up with Warner-based Denise Di Novi to produce.
“Larklight” is the first in a Victorian-era space adventure trilogy in which a brother and sister team with a band of renegade space pirates to save the world from destruction at the hands of a madman.
“It’s an utterly original mix of the fantastical and historical,” Di Novi told Daily Variety.
Bloomsbury is publishing “Larklight” this fall. Reeve’s other books include “Mortal Engines,” “Darkling Plain,” “Predator’s Gold,” “Infernal Devices” and the Buster Bayliss series for younger readers.
Alison Greenspan will exec produce “Larklight.”
Di Novi’s a producer on Warner’s upcoming poker drama “Lucky You,” directed by Curtis Hanson and starring Drew Barrymore and Eric Bana.
