Twisted taps Mazzocone prod’n prexy

Company set to develop, produce four horror pics in '07

Producer Carl Mazzocone has been tapped as production prexy of Mark Burg and Oren KoulesTwisted Pictures, creator of the lucrative “Saw” horror franchise.

Burg and Koules said Mazzocone will play an integral role as the company ramps up to develop and produce four horror pics in 2007. He has, they said, an eye for the “daring and unconventional.”

Mazzocone, Burg and Koules previously worked together on projects including “Good Advice,” “Run Ronnie Run” and “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd,” as well as reality TV show “Chasing Farrah.”

Mazzocone’s most recent credits as an independent producer include “Shade,” starring Gabriel Byrne and Sylvester Stallone, and Latino standup showcase “The Three Amigos.”

In 1987, Mazzocone launched production company Main Line Pictures, turning out films including “Boxing Helena” and the crime thriller “Body Count.”

Koules and Burg launched Twisted Pictures in 2004. Upcoming pics include “Dead Silence,” “Catacombs” and “Saw IV.”
