The Tribeca Film Festival unveiled the slate for its annual family lineup Thursday, with highlights to include DreamWorks’ animated “Over the Hedge,” Miramax’s “Keeping up With the Steins” and Charles Sturridge’s update of the classic “Lassie.”
Kiddie section, which this year adds a T4Teens lineup, comprises 15 features, as well as various shorts programs. Peter Downing is creative director.
Family event, which includes a downtown street fair on May 6, runs oncurrently with Tribeca’s main sections April 25-May 7.
Tribeca has also announced a lineup of 76 pics in its shorts category, including projects from Adrian Grenier (“Euthanasia”), Emily Hubley (“Octave”) and Abbas Kiarostami (“Roads of Kiarostami”).
Founded by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff in the wake of 9/11, Tribeca is highlighted this year by its Spotlight section, which includes out of competish pics from high-profile helmers.
Directors under the Tribeca spotlight will include Sydney Pollack (“Sketches of Frank Gehry”), Claude Chabrol (“Comedy of Power”), Edward Burns (“The Groomsmen”), Andrucha Waddington (“House of Sand”), Guy Maddin (“My Dad Is 100 Years Old”) and Chen Kaige (“Promise”).
