Yee will executive produce titles

HONG KONG — News Corp.-backed Star Chinese Movies is putting coin toward three high-definition local movies.

Derek Yee Tung-sing, who has twice won director honors at the Hong Kong Film Awards, will executive produce. His most recent nod was in 2004 for action thriller “One Night in Mongkok.”

The first film, helmer Mak Kai-Kwong’s “Pandora’s Booth,” started shooting Friday in Hong Kong. Pic will feature pop stars Fiona Sit Hoi-kei and Kenny Kwan Chi-bun.

The three pics will have an exclusive TV premiere on Star Chinese Movies, which is wholly owned by New Corp.’s Star Group.
