Wasting no time after his Oscar win, Philip Seymour Hoffman has set his next project. He will co-star with Laura Linney in “The Savages” for Fox Searchlight.
Pic was penned and will be helmed by Tamara Jenkins.
Hoffman and Linney will play siblings forced to care for their ailing and estranged elderly father.
Production gets under way in Gotham in April.
Producers on the project are Ted Hope and Anne Carey through their This Is That banner, as well as Fred and Erica Westheimer. In addition, Alexander Payne, Jim Taylor and Jim Burke will exec produce via their Searchlight-based shingle Ad Hominem.
Hoffman next will be seen in “Mission: Impossible 3,” which Paramount will release May 5.
Linney next will appear in political satire “Man of the Year,” produced by Morgan Creek, with Universal distributing, and spy thriller “Breach,” which U and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment are co-financing.
Jenkins started her feature helming career with “The Slums of Beverly Hills,” which Searchlight released in 1998.
Production prexy Claudia Lewis and production veep Joshua Deighton shepherd “Savages” for Searchlight.
This Is That most recently produced “Friends With Money,” which opened the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Sony Pictures Classics will release it April 7.
