Focus Features genre arm Rogue Pictures will domestically distribute Working Title Films’ upcoming action comedy “Hot Fuzz.”
In-production pic was penned by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, creators of Rogue’s zombie spoof “Shaun of the Dead.”
“Fuzz” follows London’s top cop after he’s reassigned to the village of Sandford, a less threatening land of garden parties and neighborhood-watch meetings. But the seemingly idyllic burg is soon rocked by a tough case.
Wright is helming “Fuzz,” which stars Pegg, Nick Frost, Jim Broadbent, Paddy Considine, Steve Coogan and Timothy Dalton.
Nira Park is producing with Working Title co-chairs Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Natascha Wharton is exec producing.
“With ‘Hot Fuzz,’ we’re going to give the police-action genre the same treatment we gave the living dead,” Park said.
Pic is lensing in the U.K. and skedded to wrap in June.
Working Title’s upcoming credits include “United 93,” which is opening the Tribeca Film Fest this month.
Rogue’s upcoming titles include Vondie Curtis-Hall’s “Waist Deep” and “The Return,” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
