'Josh' scribes Schneider, Molaro will pen pic

Nickelodeon Movies and the Collective are teaming to produce an action comedy film starring Drake Bell and Josh Peck, leads of the Nick series “Drake & Josh.”

Untitled project, to be penned by “Drake & Josh” creator Dan Schneider and writing partner Steve Molaro, will center on a wealthy and sheltered young man who receives a crash course in life experience from a slacker.

Paramount will distribute domestically.

The Collective’s Sam Maydew and Michael Goldman will produce while the shingle’s Aaron Ray and Michael Green exec produce.

“Drake & Josh” debuted in January 2004 as Nick’s highest-rated series premiere in almost 10 years and ranks at the top of live-action series with kids 2-11. Bell’s credits include “Yours, Mine & Ours” and “Jerry Maguire” while Peck’s appeared in “Mean Creek” and “Havoc.”

Schneider’s exec producer-creator of Nick’s “Zoey 101” and was exec producer of Nick’s “All That.” Feature scripting credits include “Good Burger” and “Big Fat Liar.”

Molaro’s collaborated with Schneider on the three Nick series and is a writer on ABC comedy series “Freddie.” He wrote previously for “Complete Savages” and “What I Like About You.”
