Natterqvist to lead ‘Arn’ cast

Two-part movie is Sweden's biggest ever production

STOCKHOLM — Joakim Natterqvist will take on the title role in Sweden’s biggest movie project ever, the $28.7 million production “Arn.”

The two features based on Jan Guillou’s bestselling crusades trilogy will be helmed by Dane Peter Flinth.

Natterqvist is best known for his television work in Sweden, where he has starred in drama series like “Stackars Tom” and “Spung.” Helmer Peter Flinth most recently directed Swedish crime pic “Mastermind.”

Produced by Svensk Filmindustri’s Waldemar Bergendahl, “Arn” is an epic saga about war, friendship, treachery and love. Shooting, which will take place in Sweden, Jordan, Morocco, the U.K. and Denmark, will start in January 2007.

The first of the two pics is set for its Scandinavian preem in December 2007, while the sequel will open a year later.
