Mouse collars ‘Dog’ scribe

Hoberman, Lieberman producing with Tollin/Robbins

Walt Disney Pictures and studio-based Mandeville Films are back in business with “The Shaggy Dog” scribe Geoff Rodkey, picking up his “Untitled Family Movie” pitch for north of $1 million.

Project is described as a Disney family comedy about a disenfranchised father and his disillusioned son.

Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing along with Tollin/Robbins partners Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins. Disney entered negotiations to pick up the pitch on Monday and deal is now closed. Rodkey, repped by UTA and Principato-Young, will also get a producer credit.

“Shaggy Dog,” also penned by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley and Jack Amiel, opened March 9 to $16.3 million. Rodkey also wrote “R.V.,” starring Robin Williams and Cheryl Hines, which is due for release from Columbia Pictures on April 28.

Mandeville recently set up “Dad Knap” at Disney’s Touchstone Pictures to star comedian Dane Cook. Tollin/Robbins recently announced plans to produce a film centered on Liberian-born soccer star George Weah. Shingle is producing along with Jim Young and his Animus Films.
