CANNES — Media 8 Entertainment is co-producing, financing and distributing “Challenger,” starring David Strathairn and directed by Philip Kaufman (“The Right Stuff”). Producing with Media 8 are Code Entertainment and Carol Baum Prods.
Media 8 is selling international rights to the pic at the Cannes Film Market.
In “Challenger,” Strathairn stars as world-famous scientist and Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman. Pic, written by Nicole Perlman, is an investigative drama in the vein of “The Insider” and examines the role Feynman played in the probe of the space shuttle Challenger accident.
Carol Baum, Rick Berg and Peter Kaufman will serve as producers on the pic.
Berg, a partner at Code Entertainment, is currently developing Ryan Shiraki’s comedy “Spring Breakdown” at Warner Bros. with Code producing partner Larry Kennar. Shingle is now shooting the John Dahl black comedy “You Kill Me,” starring Ben Kingsley.
Media 8’s Cannes slate includes the upcoming “The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing,” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar; “The Horror Chronicles” trilogy; the supernatural thriller “Reaper”; and the zombie horror-comedy “Wanted: Undead or Alive,” starring Chris Kattan and James Denton.
