Barcelona-based indie distribber Manga Films has taken all Spanish rights to Russell Crowe-starrer “Tenderness,” sold by GreeneStreet Films Intl.
Revitalized by the success at the Spanish B.O. of recent titles like “Crash” and “Good Night, and Good Luck,” Manga has recently proved one of Spain’s most active indie buyers.
At Cannes, it has also purchased Richard Linklater’s fest competition drama “Fast Food Nation,” from Hanway Films; and from Element Films Intl., Manga bought Bruce A. Evans’ thriller “Mr. Brooks,” toplining Kevin Costner, William Hurt, Marg Helgenberger and Demi Moore.
It has picked up Jieho Lee’s crime drama “The Air I Breath,” with Brendan Fraser, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Bacon and Andy Garcia, from Inferno Distribution.
Headed by prexy Luis de Val, Manga has bought controversial German cannibal horror pic “Grimm Love,” helmed by Martin Weisz and sold by Santa Monica-based Lightning Entertainment.
