Legendary Pictures has tapped Alysia Cotter VP of creative affairs, a newly created post.
She’ll report to top creative exec Jon Jashni and help Legendary grow its own slate apart from the pics it co-finances with Warner Bros. Legendary set up shop on the Warners lot last summer, armed with a $500 million private equity fund.
Hire keeps Cotter on the Warners lot, where she began as a creative assistant and protegee to Jeff Robinov before he was upped to prexy of production. She left the studio to work for producers Barry Levinson and Paula Weinstein but then returned to Warners as a creative exec, working on pics including “Batman Begins” and “Taking Lives.”
Legendary initially boasted a staff of just four — topper Thomas Tull, chief marketing exec Scott Mednick, physical production chief William Fay and chief financial officer Larry Clark.
Legendary is co-financing tentpole pics “Superman Returns,” “Lady in the Water” and “10,000 B.C.,” among other titles.
