Antonio Banderas will receive a Gabi Lifetime Achievement award at the 10th annual Los Angeles Latino Intl. Film Festival, which starts Thursday.

Upcoming Lionsgate release “Pretendiendo,” starring Barbara Mori, will close the fest Oct 15. Fest also has slated a sneak preview of a high-profile pic for Monday.

Banderas will pick up his award, named after Mexican cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa, Saturday at the Egyptian, the official fest venue.

Latino fest will host the U.S. premieres of 11 pics, the most yet for the decade-old fest co-founded by Edward James Olmos, fest director-producer Marlene Dermer and producer George Hernandez.

These include Colombian blockbuster “Soñar no cuesta nada” (A Ton of Luck) by Rodrigo Triana; Luis Llosa’s English-language thriller “La fiesta del chivo,” starring Isabella Rossellini; Cuban musical biopic “El Benny” by Jorge Luis Sanchez; Argentine helmer Carlos Sorin’s “El camino de San Diego”; and Brazilian helmer Carlos Diegues’ “O major amor do mundo” (The Greatest Love in the World).

Fest also will host the West Coast preem of Alfredo de Villa’s “Yellow,” starring and co-produced by Roselyn Sanchez. Los Angeles premieres include “Elsa y Fred” (Argentina) by Marcos Carnevale and Palm Pictures’ domestic pickup “Solo Dios sabe” (Only God Knows) by Carlos Bolado, from Mexico.

Fest will train its spotlight on Brazil once again this year. On Saturday, L.A.-based producer Deborah Calla will moderate a panel on Brazilian film production and its place in the global marketplace. Panelists include Brazilian helmers Diegues, Renata Almeida Magalhaes (“The Greatest Love of All”), Miguel Faria (“Vinicius”) and Randal Johnson, director of UCLA’s Latin American Center.

Panel will be followed by the screenings of Daniel Filho’s comedy “If I Were You” and “The Greatest Love of All.” Other notable Brazilian titles slated for the fest include Faria’s “Vinicius,” Beto Brant’s “Delicate Crime,” Marcos Prado’s (“Bus 174”) prizewinning docu “Estamira” and Joao Falcao’s romantic drama “The Machine.”

Other sidebars include a spotlight on Andalusian (Spain) cinema, a Latino Public Broadcasting showcase and an extensive shorts program.
