Sidney Kimmel Entertainment has tapped Fox Searchlight creative exec Joshua Deighton and former IFC Entertainment VP of production and development Holly Becker as senior VPs of production — a pair of newly created posts.

The duo will report directly to prexy of production Bill Horberg, as well as to SKE prexy Jim Tauber, both of whom arrived at Sidney Kimmel’s financing and production company less than a year ago.

Appointments come as SKE finalizes a deal for the revitalized MGM to distribute a slate of projects. Pact is expected to close in the coming weeks.

Deighton, who exits Searchlight today, served as VP of production and was responsible for the acquisition of titles including “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Super Troopers.” He was a production exec on films including “Sideways,” “Sexy Beast” and the upcoming sci-fi epic “Sunshine.”

Becker left IFC in February. She exec produced “Me and You and Everyone We Know” and “American Gun,” among others. She supervised production on films including “Night Listener” and “Monsoon Wedding.” Previously, she worked for the Seattle Film Festival and the Sundance Institute.

SKE’s upcoming slate includes “Breach,” for Universal; “Trust the Man,” which Fox Searchlight will distribute; and writer-director Nick Cassavetes’ “Alpha Dog,” which New Line will release later this year.

Also, in association with Universal, SKE financed 9/11 drama “United 93.”

Company is in post-production on romantic comedy “Griffin and Phoenix” and “Copying Beethoven,” starring Ed Harris and directed by Agnieszka Holland.
