The Tribeca Film Festival will host the world preem of Warner Bros.’ “Poseidon” at a May 6 gala.
Universal Pictures’ “United 93” has already been selected to open the fest on April 25. Film, directed by Paul Greengrass, follows the hijacking of the 9/11 flight that crashed in a Pennsylvania field after passengers retook it.
Wolfgang Petersen-directed “Poseidon” is a remake of the 1970s disaster film, adapted by Mark Protosevich. Ensemble cast includes Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas, Richard Dreyfuss and Emmy Rossum.
The film was co-financed by Virtual Studios and produced by Petersen, Mike Fleiss, Duncan Henderson and Akiva Goldsman. Executive producers are Kevin Burns, Jon Jashni, Sheila Allen and Virtual topper Benjamin Waisbren.
“Poseidon” bows in theaters May 12, one week after Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible III” and one week before Sony’s “The Da Vinci Code.”
