Diesel heads to CAA

Thesp takes leave of Endeavor

Vin Diesel has moved to Creative Artists Agency.

Diesel had been repped by Endeavor and continues to be managed by the Firm.

Endeavor steered Diesel to stardom, a rise punctuated by a series of bracing contract talks after “The Fast and the Furious” became a hit.

Resulting tough negotiations led to eight-figure deals on the Revolution Studios pic “XXX” and Universal’s “Pitch Black” sequel “The Chronicles of Riddick.” But U then declined to renegotiate a tentative deal for a “Fast and the Furious” sequel and Diesel dropped out.

Revolution declined to pick up a “XXX” reprise option that would have paid Diesel $20 million. Sans Diesel, “XXX: State of the Union” was a high-priced flop.

Diesel’s agency shift comes after his work in the Sidney Lumet-directed “Find Me Guilty” drew favorable reviews, although the pic did not make a dent at the box office.

Diesel, who previously starred in Adam Shankman-directed hit “The Pacifier,” has several potential franchises in the works, such as “The Wheelman,” a Paramount and MTV Films actioner to be simultaneously developed into a videogame by Midway. Diesel also is attached to star in and exec produce a feature adaptation of vidgame franchise “The Hitman” at Fox.

The actor is intent on resuming his directing ambitions. Before he showed action-star potential in the ensemble of “Saving Private Ryan,” Diesel’s calling cards were “Strays” and “Multi-Facial,” two short films he wrote and directed.

Diesel hopes to get behind the camera in a grander fashion with “Hannibal,” an adaptation of Ross Leckie’s novel about the Carthaginian general who rode an elephant across the Alps with an army of 100,000 to attack Rome. Pic, originally set up by Diesel’s One Race shingle at Revolution Studios, is now back under his control. Diesel will play the title character as well as produce.
