Dempsey accepts ‘Honor’

'Anatomy' thesp to star in Columbia pic

TV’s “McDreamy” is hearing wedding bells, but they’re not for him.

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey has signed a pay-or-play deal to topline Columbia Pictures’ romantic comedy “Made of Honor,” being produced by Neal Moritz’s Original Film.

No director has yet been hired.

Pic is a male-driven romantic comedy about a guy (Dempsey) whose dream girl asks him to be her maid of honor. He agrees in an attempt to win her heart.

“Made of Honor” is based on a spec script by Adam Sztykiel and was greenlit after a rewrite by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont.

Moritz is producing. Original’s Tania Landau is exec producing along with Aaron Kaplan and Sean Perrone.

Dempsey is starring in the upcoming Disney film “Enchanted” with Amy Adams, as well as Paramount’s “Freedom Writers” with Hilary Swank.

Dempsey is repped by UTA and managed by Joannie Burstein.
