Focus Features has upped Eric Carr to veep of exhibitor marketing, based in Los Angeles.
Carr was previously director, exhibitor marketing, and has been with the Universal specialty film arm since 2003. He will continue reporting to Focus exec VP of theatrical distribution and sales Linda Ditrinco.
In the expanded role, Carr will be responsible for planning and deploying in-theater marketing ideas and materials for Focus and its genre arm Rogue Pictures, working closely with the company’s marketing executives.
“Eric’s strong relationships with exhibitors around the country, and his keen sense of the importance of the movie theater experience, makes him a highly effective executive,” said Focus distrib head Jack Foley. “His ideas are creative, and whether it’s getting a standee up or a trailer placed, he always makes the extra effort on behalf of our films and filmmakers.”
Exec arrived at Focus from New Line Cinema, where he was manager of exhibitor relations for three years.
At the studio, he worked on the rollouts of pics including “The Lord of the Rings” franchise and oversaw exhibitor relations for Fine Line pics, including Lars von Trier’s “Dancer in the Dark” and David Mamet’s “State and Main.”
