LONDON — Ralpho Borgos is set to replace Harold van Lier as senior VP of sales and distribution at Summit Entertainment after the Cannes Film Market, which starts this week.
Borgos, who previously worked at companies including New Line, Cobalt and ZDF, is returning to the film biz after a hiatus. He will be based in the London office reporting to Summit’s co-topper David Garrett, and will take over van Lier’s territories, which include Asia, CIS, the Middle East, South Africa, Portugal and Turkey.
Van Lier is stepping down in order to move to France, where he and his wife plan to build a boutique hotel chain across Europe. He may continue to attend film markets as a consultant for Summit.
“Harold has been a fantastic asset for the company while he has been at Summit, and a delight to work with,” Garrett said. “It could be not greater tribute to Harold than for him to have his shoes filled by Ralpho, who is also enormously liked and respected throughout the industry.”
Summit also has five projects for sale at the Cannes Film Market, including pics from Mike Newell, Richard LaGravenese and the team behind “The Hills Have Eyes,” plus starring vehicles for Hugh Jackman and Paris Hilton.
