Weinsteins raise execs

Krumm, Gatineau top acquisitions for TWC

NEW YORK — The Weinstein Co. has upped Michelle Krumm and Maeva Gatineau to exec VPs and co-heads of acquisitions and co-productions.

Pair take over for veteran acquisitions chief Agnes Mentre, who ankled the company after the Cannes film fest.

Reporting to co-chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Krumm is based in Los Angeles, Gatineau in London.

Krumm and Gatineau are “extremely talented executives with incredible relationships and a vast knowledge of the acquisitions business around the world,” Harvey Weinstein said.

Krumm will focus on North American, Asian and Australian live-action and animated acquisitions, while Gatineau will oversee European acquisitions and the company’s activities at international film festivals.

Gatineau and Krumm will also co-manage the company’s acquisitions team, which includes VP of Asian acquisitions and co-productions Bey Logan, as well as veeps Genna Terranova and Michael Schaefer, director Eileen Rodriguez and manager Ben Friedman.

Terranova is charged with overseeing the company’s Latin American fund.

Krumm has worked with the Weinsteins since 1997, when she joined Miramax Films’ acquisitions department. She moved to TWC in October as exec VP of acquisitions and co-productions. Exec has brought such upcoming pics to TWC as “Bobby,” “Miss Potter,” “Factory Girl” and “The Protector.”

She previously played a role in picking up such pics as “Transamerica,” “The Matador,” “Wolf Creek,” “Lucky Number Slevin,” “Hostage,” “Blue Car” and “The Station Agent.”

Gatineau began her career in 1997 as an assistant at Miramax.

She moved to TWC in October as exec veep of acquisitions and co-productions and was recently responsible for acquiring “Cronica de una fuga,” which played Cannes this year. Exec has been involved in such acquisitions as “Mrs. Henderson Presents,” “Zatoichi,” “Les Choristes,” “The Barbarian Invasions” and “Amelie.”

Move marks a changing of the guard at the company: Mentre had headed the Weinsteins’ acquisitions initiatives since 1997, after the departure of Trea Hoving at Miramax Films.

Mentre will announce her next move this fall. She had been in talks to become a consultant at French sales banner Wild Bunch.
