Rotterdam festival to honor Sissako, To

'Marea,' 'Fourteen' among Tiger Awards titles

LONDON — The Rotterdam Film Festival announced another five titles for its Tiger Awards on Tuesday.

They are: Argentine Diego Martinez Vignatti’s “La marea” about a woman coming to terms with the death of her husband and son in a car crash; German Pia Marais’ “Die Underzogenen” about a girl and her drug addict parents; Japan’s Hirosue Hiromasa’s second feature “Fourteen”; Macedonian helmer Aneta Lesnikovska’s Dogma-style “Does it Hurt? The First Balkan Dogma”; and Brazilian Claudio Assis’ prostitute tale “Bog of the Beasts.”

Fest, running Jan. 24 to Feb. 4, also announced it will pay tribute to Paris-based, Mauritanian helmer Abderrahmane Sissako and Hong Kong director Johnnie To in its Filmmakers in Focus section.
