New Line has tapped Charles Stone to helm “Paper Wings,” its romancer set in the worlds of rodeo and country music.
Pic’s producers are Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
Story is about a young rodeo champion struggling between his career and his romance with an up-and-coming country singer. Scripter Les Bohem and Bowen developed the story while meeting last June at the Nashville Screenwriters Conference, which Bohem and Karen Murphy organize annually.
Deal for “Paper Wings” is the final one Bowen made while a partner at UTA, from which he recently ankled to form a producing shingle with Godfrey, the longtime Davis Entertainment prexy. The duo has signed a first-look deal at New Line and are also producing “Nativity.”
Stone’s credits include “Drumline” and “Mr. 3000.” He’s also been attached to helm Crystal Sky’s “Tekken.”
