Brothers to helm 'Baster'

Peter and Bobby Farrelly will direct “The Baster,” a romantic comedy about infertility, for Columbia Pictures.

Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger will produce along with Bradley Thomas through the Farrellys’ shingle, Conundrum Entertainment. The Farrellys will also exec produce, with Jon Fogel co-producing.

Allan Loeb adapted a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides, whose novel served as the basis for “The Virgin Suicides.”

The Farrellys currently are shooting “The Heartbreak Kid,” starring Ben Stiller, for DreamWorks.

Loeb scripted a remake of “The Valet,” which the Farrellys are also attached to direct, for DreamWorks. “Things We Lost in the Fire,” based on his spec, recently wrapped for DreamWorks.
