Dimension adds Cube

Former rapper, Alvarez pact with TWC

Cube Vision Prods.’ Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez have sealed a two-year pact with the Weinstein Co. and its Dimension Films genre arm to produce film and TV projects for both banners.

Move comes after Ice Cube recently signed to star in Dimension pic “Welcome Back, Kotter,” based on the TV series.

Cube Vision’s credits include “Are We There Yet?,” the “Friday” franchise for New Line and the “Barbershop” franchise for MGM. Unit was also behind “Black.White.” for FX.

“Cube and Matt have great creative instincts, and at the same time they are good businessmen who are fiscally responsible,” said Richard Saperstein, prexy of production for Dimension

“We’re also excited about what we’ll be able to do together in television, since both of our companies have already been successful in TV, and are looking to build on that success,” added Michael Cole, co-prexy of production for TWC.

Dimension is in current release with “Scary Movie 4.”
