Willem Dafoe will star opposite Jeff Goldblum in Bleiberg Entertainment’s Holocaust drama “Adam Resurrected,” to be directed by Paul Schrader.

Story concerns a former circus entertainer who was spared the gas chamber so he might entertain thousands of other Jews as they were marched to their deaths. After the war, he becomes the leader at an asylum populated by Holocaust survivors.

Bleiberg is producing “Adam Resurrected” with Werner Wirsing, head of German distributor EMS/3L. Ulf Israel is exec producing. Noah Stollman wrote the screenplay, adapting from Yoram Kaniuk’s novel.

Shooting begins in April in Germany, Romania and Israel. Bleiberg is financing the film along with EMS/3L.

Dafoe’s upcoming films include “Mr. Bean’s Holiday,” “Paris je t’aime” and “Anamorph.”

He’s repped by Endeavor and Widescreen Management.
