H.K. crix opt for ‘Election’

'Seven Swords,' 'Initial D,' 'Perhaps Love' also praised

The Hong Kong Film Critics society named gangster drama “Election” best film of 2005 and awarded helmer honors to its local director Johnnie To on Tuesday.

Tony Leung Ka-fai grabbed actor kudo for his role in Stanley Kwan’s “Everlasting Regret,” while China’s Zhou Xun won actress laurels for playing a movie star caught between two lovers in Peter Chan Ho-sun’s musical “Perhaps Love.”

The scribe prize went to Wong Jing for crime drama “Color of the Loyalty.”

The crix also recommended “Seven Swords,” “Color of the Loyalty,” “Crazy and the City,” “Initial D,” “Sha Po Lang,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Perhaps Love” and “Everlasting Regret.”

The awards will be handed out at a ceremony on Feb 22.
