PUSAN — Hong Kong-based international sales agent Golden Network has picked up world sales rights to “Curiosity Kills the Cat,” the drama that is fighting a rearguard campaign to win China’s foreign-language Oscar nomination, and “Krrish,” the biggest Indian film of the year.
“Curiosity” is a contempo tale of love and greed set among China’s newly wealthy elite, helmed by Zhang Yibai (“Spring Subway.”)
“Krrish,” directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan, is India’s first attempt to develop a cinematic superhero genre. Starring heartthrob Hrithik Roshan and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra, pic opened on a record 1,000 prints and grossed $31 million in India. Simultaneous releases on Indian circuits in the U.S. and U.K. added $1.8 million and $1 million, respectively.
Story follows a wide-eyed hick as he slowly realizes his powers and travels to Singapore where he saves lives of many and perks up the career of his power-dressing girlfriend.
