Vanguard Record’s is making 73 titles from its vault available on iTunes, including titles that are heavily sought by the new wave of folk music fans.
On the folk side are two albums each by Peter Walker, Robbie Basho and Tom Paxton plus titles from Ramblin Jack Elliott, Country Joe McDonald, Hedy West and Patrick Sky. Jazz selections include records by Elvin Jones, Clark Terry and Bunky Green. Also on the slate is the lone album by the Wildweeds, a disc featuring guitarist Al Anderson of NRBQ.
Titles will be available Jan. 16.
“This seemed to be the most economical way to get the music out there to reach new and old fans alike” said Vince Hans, Vanguard’s director of catalog marketing.
An additional 100 titles from Vanguard’s catalog will be released digitally in 2007.
Vanguard was founded in 1950 and was a top folk and blues label in the ’60s.
