The industry association for computer graphics and interactive sectors is mulling expansion into Asia.
The Assn. for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques (ACM Siggraph) annual confab is one of the largest in the world to showcase latest digital art forms.
Usually held around August in North America, it attracts 20,000 to 30,000 delegates.
Siggraph in Asia will aim to have the same size and scope as the North America event, according to ACM Siggraph prexy G. Scott Owen. VP Alyn Rockwood will lead the proposal.
Org foresees the event taking place each December, with the first in 2008 or 2009. It has already contacted several major Asian cities about hosting the event.
