Here! gets chummy with ‘Buddy’s’ toon

Cabler to add 'Kid' toon to sked

Here!, the nation’s inaugural gay television network, has added adult animated series “Buddy’s” to its slate.

Half-hour is centered around Scott Thompson’s “Kids in the Hall” character Buddy Cole, a gay bar owner, who comes under the watchful eye of a bullying city councilman while simultaneously finding himself a parent when his orphaned niece suddenly arrives on his doorstep.

Thompson appeared on Canadian sketch comedy program “Kids in the Hall” from 1989-94. Series was produced by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and co-financed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and HBO. It aired in Canada on the CBC and in the United States on HBO, CBS and Comedy Central.

“Buddy’s,” being developed with Breakthrough Animation of Toronto, is set to preem later this year.
