LONDON — Dubai TV, the Arab world’s fastest-rising satcaster, is going online via an exclusive partnership with Internet TV distributor Jump TV.
The three Arabic-language channels — flagship Dubai TV, local channel Sama Dubai and Dubai Sports — will be included in the deal.
Since launching in June 2004, Dubai TV has become the second most-watched Arab satcaster across the region behind Saudi-owned titan MBC.
“We wanted to leverage the strength of Dubai TV’s brand with the global distribution platform of the Internet to tap into Arabic communities around the world,” says Dubai TV’s Omar Bin Khediya.
Jump TV has shown an increasing interest in Arab programming.
In April, it bowed a pan-Arab TV bouquet, called 1,001 Nights, offering global auds more than 20 channels including Al-Jazeera.
“The Arab diaspora has proven to be a voracious consumer of media,” says Jump CEO Kaleil Isaza.
