Playboy Enterprises has consummated its love affair with Jenna Jameson, one of the biggest porn stars in the U.S., by purchasing her private company, Club Jenna.
Jameson produces hardcore-porn movies for DVD, cable TV and satellite and operates a network of Web sites. Her recent nonfiction book “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star” was a runaway bestseller for ReganBooks.
She also produces a reality series for Playboy TV and Playboy On Demand called “Jenna’s American Sex Star,” which auditions young women eager to dethrone Jameson as the doyenne of dirty movies.
“Jameson’s celebrity and brand name will help to reinforce Playboy TV as the adult-entertainment destination,” said Jim Griffiths, president of the Playboy Entertainment Group.
Griffiths said Playboy will try to get Jameson more roles in mainstream entertainment, including reality series on ad-supported networks like A&E, Spike TV and E! Entertainment.
Jameson and her husband, Jay Grdina, who’s president of Club Jenna, have signed what Playboy calls “personal-service agreements” with the company.
