Hettrick launches Web series

Former Daily Variety home entertainment editor Scott Hettrick has launched his first Web-based skein through new shingle Iron Sink Media.

Hettrick teamed up with Scott Zakarian, creator of early Net serial “The Spot,” and Rich Tackenberg, a partner with the late Brandon Tartikoff in Entertainment Asylum, on Iron Sink.

Their first production, “Soup of the Day,” launched last month and has generated more than 1 million downloads through various online sites, including YouTube and iTunes.

The serial traces the dating misadventures of a young photographer romancing three women.

Hettrick was home entertainment editor of Daily Variety and editor of sister publication Video Business from 2000 until earlier this year.
