30 Fox movies to Korean VOD service

Hanaro Telecom pacts with studio

SEOUL — Seoul-based Hanaro Telecom has pacted with 20th Century Fox to add 30 feature films, including the pics in the “X-Men” series and “Garfield,” to video-on-demand services at HanaTV.

Deal includes new releases by Fox through 2009.

In addition, telco has bought a package from E! Entertainment including “101 Sexiest Celebrity Bodies,” “101 Most Shocking Moments in Entertainment,” “Celebrities Uncensored” and “Rich Kids: Cattle Drive.”

Hanaro also has pacted with Korean firm StarM to offer concerts from the recent world tour of pan-Asian pop star Rain. Tour includes appearances in Las Vegas, Japan, China and Thailand.

HanaTV, launched in July, provides VOD services delivered over the Internet via a special set-top box. Individual films and TV programs cost between 60¢ and $2.
