Noms in for Post kudos

'Kong,' 'Pirates' compete for compositing, coloring prizes

“King Kong” and Weta Digital garnered two feature noms and post house Outside Editorial received five noms for commercials as Hollywood Post Alliance announced the nominees for the inaugural HPA Awards on Tuesday.

“Kong” and its Weta teams will compete with “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” for compositing and with “Stay” and “The Illusionist” for color correction in features with a digital intermediate.

Outside Editorial was nommed twice for editing and has all three noms for color correction in a commercial.

Soundelux is assured of kudos for audio post for a feature, as it has both nominees in the category, “Flight Plan” and “The Producers.”

LaserPacific took two noms, one for color correction on “Stay” and one for color correction in TV for “Invasion.”

The HPA Awards will be presented Nov. 1 at the Skirball Cultural Center.
