Revised edition of Viswanathan book nixed

Undone deal of the week

It’s tough enough watching your debut novel yanked from shelves amid allegations of plagarism.

But 19-year-old author Kaavya Viswanathan then had her two-book deal at Little, Brown killed entirely last week.

The pub house nixed plans to release a revised edition of “How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life” and said it would not publish a second tome by the author.

The only parties that seem to be profiting from the scandal are speculators: Copies of the recalled $21.95 tome were being resold online late last week for $89.95 up to $495.
