NECN giving viewers a bigger voice

Short Take

New England Cable News, the regional news channel operated by Hearst Corp. and Comcast, launched “Video New England” last week. The project solicits digital video stories from viewers that will be shown at NECN’s Web site and also may be used on its newscasts. An editorial process for both outlets will determine which videos are used.

This is a first in New England, but follows a new trend in the news media to give a bigger forum to readers and viewers.
