‘House’ adds on audience

Morning Ratings Flash - Rick Kissell

First-year Fox drama “House” hit ratings highs for a third straight week Tuesday, combining with dominant scores by “American Idol” for an easy nightly victory, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.

From 9 to 10, “House” (5.9 rating/14 share in adults 18-49, 14.9 million viewers overall) led across the board for Fox, building by more than 10% week-to-week even though lead-in “American Idol” (12.0/30 in adults 18-49, 28.6 million viewers overall) was roughly flat. “Idol” was up over the same night a year ago, again beating the other five broadcast nets combined in key demos.

The conclusion to the sixth running of CBS unscripted series “The Amazing Race” posted a solid 5.1/13 in adults 18-49 and 12.5 million viewers overall, placing second to “House” at 9 and tying NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU” (5.3/14 in adults 18-49, 14.2 million viewers overall) from 10 to 11.

ABC had a ho-hum night, led by “According to Jim” (3.8/9 in adults 18-49, 9.9 million viewers overall) and “Rodney” (3.5/8 in adults 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall), and NBC struggled prior to 10 o’clock, led by “Scrubs” at 9 (fourth-place 3.2/8 in adults 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall).

At the WB, the 100th episode of “Gilmore Girls” (2.8/7 in adults 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) placed second to “Idol” and hit a season high in women 18-49 (4.2/11).
