China hosting TV confab

Event skedded for August 25

HONG KONG — The inaugural China Intl. Sports Television Forum will take place in Beijing on Aug. 25.

Event, tagged the Fastest Marathon China Sports TV 2005-2008, will be co-hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (Sarft) and China Media Group. It will be supported by the Beijing Olympic Committee Organizing Group and state broadcaster CCTV.

China’s sports TV network CCTV-5 will produce the confab. Sina.com, a Chinese-lingo ISP, is the main sponsor.

“During the Forum we will examine the most innovative business models for sports television and exchange views and information on the latest technical advances in the run-up to the Beijing 2008 Olympics,” said Li Jian, president of China Intl. Television Corp.

International participants at the one-day conference include executives from the National Basketball Assn., Adidas, Volkswagen and Coca-Cola.
