CBS notched another Thursday ratings victory in key demos this week behind “CSI” and “Survivor” but NBC also looked solid with above-average results for “ER” and “The Apprentice,” according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.

In the night’s key 9 o’clock showdown, “CSI” (9.0 rating/23 share in adults 18-49, 26.2 million viewers overall) bested the first half of the season finale of NBC’s “The Apprentice 3” (6.7/17 in 18-49, 14.5 million viewers overall), with the latter notching its best 18-49 score since March 10. Fox’s “Simple Life 3” wasn’t a factor in the hour (2.0/5 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall).

“Survivor: Palau” kicked the night off a winner for CBS (6.9/20 in 18-49, 19.3 million viewers overall), with NBC’s hourlong season finale of “Joey” placing second (3.5/10 in 18-49, 8.4 million viewers overall) with the show’s best scores since March 24. Down a bit week-to-week was Fox’s third-place “The OC” (2.7/8 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall).

At 10 o’clock, NBC’s “ER” (8.1/21 in 18-49, 17.4 million viewers overall) notched its best 18-49 rating since Feb. 17, topping the combined 18-49 scores of CBS drama “Without a Trace” (5.9/15 in 18-49, 19.0 million viewers overall) and ABC newsmag “Primetime Live” (2.1/5 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall).

ABC tied UPN’s “WWE Smackdown” for fourth from 8 to 10 with the network preem of theatrical “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall).
