Auds vote for ‘Ellen,’ ‘Dr. Phil’ on Prez Day

Other firstruns to hit highs include 'People's Court,' 'Family Fued'

“Dr. Phil,” “Ellen” and “Judge Mathis” all hit series-high national ratings during the week of Feb. 21-27, aided by the Presidents Day holiday and wintry weather.

“Ellen,” currently in its second season, saw a personal best weekly rating of 2.6, up 16% from the previous week and 30% from last year — the biggest year-to-year improvement of any strip.

“Dr. Phil” drew the best mark of its three seasons with a 6.6. That figure is up 18% from the previous week and up 16% from last year.

“Judge Mathis” hit a 2.9, the best mark in its six seasons, up 12% from the previous week and up 16% from last year.

For both “Ellen” and “Mathis,” the Feb. 21 Presidents Day episode was the highest-rated seg in series history. “Ellen” snagged a 3.0 with guest Ray Romano, “Mathis” a 3.1.

Other firstrun shows to achieve new season highs were “People’s Court” (up 11% from the previous week to 3.0), “Judge Hatchett” (up 5% to 2.1) and “Family Feud” (up 14% to 2.4).

Almost all firstrun rookies saw ratings increase. “The Insider” was up a tenth to 2.9, “Jane Pauley” climbed 13% to 1.7, and “Tony Danza” was up a tenth to 1.4.

“Ambush Makeover” (1.2) jumped 20%, while “Larry Elder” (1.0) and “Pat Croce” (0.8) were each up a tenth. “Life & Style” was unchanged at 0.6.
