Robots, aliens, inflatable toys and risque billboards are de rigueur in Cannes, and there’s never a shortage of people willing to stop and watch.Never mind that Cannes often feels like the mime capital of Europe — these people have a picture to sell. There was the year a bikini’d woman emerged from a suit on fire at the American Pavilion and, as the shutterbugs clicked away, suddenly lost her top. Troma, which can always be counted on for street theater, attacked with killer condoms and “Shark Tale’s” arrival by sea included Jack Black’s splash landing. No matter how jammed the Croisette gets with people, there’s always room for a gimmick.
