Palisades Pictures took over the Eden Roc restaurant at the Hotel du Cap Wednesday to salute Sharon Stone, whose appearance came via a taped acceptance speech.
With a glorious pink, purple and blue sunset to gaze at, cocktail hour coincided with a separate party on the deck below. That party’s drum corps gave Palisades’ partiers a bit of entertainment before the main event, dinner, three Broadway tunes from baritone Michael DeVito and two sets from blues singer Shemekia Copeland.
Copeland, who just finished recording her fourth album for Alligator Records, performed some grinding midtempo blues with her band, which jetted in from New York and went right back to play a gig in Rochester, N.Y., on Thursday night.
Palisades chairman and CEO Vin Roberti kept the speeches to a minimum.
