Journalist and columnist Virginia Jonas died Jan.21 in Boston. She was 79.
Her daughter, Robin T. Jonas, is an exec at Paramount. Her late husband was naturalist sculptor Louis Paul Jonas, Jr.
In the 60s, Jonas worked as a freelance journalist for AP. In the early 70s, she began a long career writing for the Hudson Register Star.
She helped organize the first exhibit of Norman Rockwell’s work in Japan and worked promoting her husband’s sculpture for many years. She also worked on the NBC special “The Enormous Egg,” and helped to organize the Sinclair Dinosaur exhibit at the ’64-’65 World’s Fair in New York, created by her husband and his father. She also founded the Leaf Peeper classical music series during the early ’90s in the Hudson Valley.
In addition to daughter Robin, she is survived by two daughters, two grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers.
