Goicouria upped in new-media division

MIAMI — MTV Networks Latin America has upped Luis Goicouria to vice president of digital media, charged with overseeing all aspects of the new-media division.

Based in Miami, Goicouria reports to Charlie Singer, exec VP of programming, creative and strategic marketing. He was previously senior director of new media. Goicouria joined the company in 1996 as operations coordinator in charge of Nickelodeon Latin America’s production budgets and coordination.

MTV Networks Latin America encompasses the Spanish-language net MTV Latin America, pan-regional Nickelodeon and VH1, which was launched last year and is rolling out in the region.

“Wireless and Web-based technologies are evolving rapidly in Latin America, and we’re committed to reaching and expanding our audiences through these new platforms,” said Singer. “Luis will spearhead the development of our MTV, Nick and VH1 content distribution across such platforms.”

Goicouria will now oversee all strategic and operational aspects of interactive digital media and continue to work on the integration and expansion of both online and mobile businesses. He also will lead the development and distribution of proprietary digital content for MTV Networks’ brands across Latin America.

In his previous position, Goicouria developed MTV, Nickelodeon and VH1’s online properties, as well as MTV Latin America’s three-year alliance with Motorola, which carries MTV premium content.

Goicouria also was instrumental in the negotiation of Nick’s “SpongeBob SquarePants” content deal with Vivo Brazil to promote the character’s film debut in the region last year.
