MTV Networks has created the post of senior VP of communications for the Music/Logo/Films Group and shifted longtime exec Jeannie Kedas into the job.
Based in New York, Kedas, who was senior VP of communications and public affairs, will report to Van Toffler, prexy of Music/Logo/Films.
MTV chair-CEO Judy McGrath set up the group as part of a major restructuring late last year that added VH1, CMT and Logo to Toffler’s portfolio, which already included MTV and MTV2.
Kedas will be active in the new services that are playing a bigger part in MTV’s overall operation, including digital TV, Internet broadband, wireless and digital music content. Working with MTV sister company Paramount Pictures, she’ll also put together the media strategies for launching theatrical movies under the MTV Films banner.
Kedas started with MTV in 1997 as VP of corporate communications and public responsibility. Before MTV, she was press secretary for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).
