TV Guide turns page, goes ‘Inside TV’

LeGrice will head up launch, slated for spring

NEW YORK — Gemstar-TV Guide, publisher of TV Guide magazine, is launching Inside TV, a tube-centric take on the celebrity weekly genre that has so thoroughly parsed the lives of Britney, Brad and Lindsay.

TV Guide has appointed Steve LeGrice to head up the launch, slated for this spring. LeGrice was on the launch team of Bauer Publishing’s In Touch Weekly, which took the celebrity and style formula from Us Weekly and became the nation’s fastest-growing weekly magazine.

“The launch of Inside TV marks our first step toward expanding the TV Guide Publishing Group footprint,” said TV Guide prexy John Loughlin. “Inside TV will combine TV-centric news, stories, styles and trends that speak to today’s young female TV enthusiasts.”

Prior to launching In Touch Weekly, LeGrice spent 10 years as executive editor at Star magazine. He began his career on London’s Fleet Street as a writer and editor for the Daily Mail.

Inside TV will compete in a crowded field of celebrity weeklies, such as In Touch, Us Weekly and Star, which increasingly cover TV, as well as magazines like Soap Opera Digest, which cover daytime programming.
