Touchstone Television is resurrecting its current programming department, tapping former 3 Arts exec Steve Tann to run it.
Studio hasn’t had a dedicated current division since it was folded into the ABC Entertainment Group in 1998; instead, creative execs remained with shows through the development process and after they landed on the air. But with nearly 20 skeins spread across four nets, studio execs decided it was time to bring back the department.
Tann reports to Touchstone exec VP of creative affairs Julia Franz.
“With the abundance of series we have on the air now, we needed to bring in someone who could hit the ground running,” Franz said. “Steve has a wealth of experience in this area, and his energy and approach to working with writers fit perfectly with the way we like to manage our current shows.”
As head of TV for 3 Arts, Tann was involved in a number of skeins, including “Everybody Hates Chris.” He’s also worked at New Line Television, Sony and Spelling.
Morella Bello will work with Tann as manager of current programming. Department is expected to add more execs later this season.
