Thursday’s ‘CSI’ an excellent Eye site

'Survivor' hopes to bring in additional auds

“CSI” ruled as Thursday’s No. 1 program, helping CBS kick off the second week of the February sweep in winning fashion.

The Eye, whose return of “Survivor” this week will make its lineup even stronger, tied NBC for the night’s lead in adults 18-49 (6.7/17) while winning easily in both adults 25-54 (8.5/20) and total viewers (21.4 million), according to Nielsen.

“CSI” (9.2 rating/22 share in adults 18-49, 27.85 million viewers overall) controlled Thursday’s middle hour over NBC’s “The Apprentice 3” (7.2/17 in 18-49, 15.13m), which remains solid and led its hour in adults 18-34 (6.8/19).

NBC’s “ER” (7.9/20 in adults 18-49, 17.08m) won in demos at 10, but CBS’ “Without a Trace” (6.1/16, 19.63m) closed the gap and again drew more viewers overall.

ABC was above average with a two-hour “Extreme Makeover” (2.6/7 in 18-49, 7.83m) and “Primetime Live’ (2.8/7, 8.78m), as was Fox’s “The OC” (3.7/10 in 18-49, 8.15m).

The Alphabet prevailed on Friday in 18-49 for a second straight week (2.8/8), led by comedies “Hope & Faith” (3.0/9 in 18-49, 8.6 million) and “Less Than Perfect” (2.9/8, 7.9m); the latter hit season highs for a second straight week, according to Nielsen prelims. And at 10, “20/20” (3.2/9 in 18-49, 9.3m), which featured Corey Feldman speaking out about his experiences with Michael Jackson, tied CBS drama “Numbers” (3.2/9, 10.5 m) for the hour’s 18-49 lead.

“Numbers” again built nicely on its “JAG” lead-in (prelim 1.9/6 in 18-49, 9.4 million). CBS on Friday ordered four additional episodes of the Paramount Network Television drama, bringing its first-season order to 12.

Separately, ABC on Friday boosted its order on Touchstone Television’s “8 Simple Rules” by a pair of episodes.

Elsewhere in Friday’s action, Fox’s “Bernie Mac” (prelim 2.3/7 in 18-49 for two segs, 5.4m) picked it up some, while NBC’s “Dateline” (prelim 2.3/7 in 18-49, 9.7m) tied or led outright in 18-49, 25-54 and total viewers. And for a second straight week, the WB’s “Reba” (prelim 2.2/6 in 18-49, 5.2m) beat CBS and Fox in 18-49 to place third at 9.

Saturday went to Fox’s “NASCAR Bud Shootout” (prelim 3.7/12 in 18-49, 9 million), while NBC’s repeat of “Law & Order: SVU” again took control at 10 (prelim 3.0/9, 10.1m).
